CHEMetrics Phosphate Test Kits
CHEMetrics Phosphate Test Kits measure ortho (reactive) phosphate using either the Stannous Chloride Method or the Vanadomolybdophosphoric Acid Method. Both visual and instrumental test kits are available across a range of low and high concentration levels.
Phosphate testing plays an important role in wastewater treatment, environmental monitoring, and industrial water treatment applications. Municipal wastewater treatment facilities that utilize Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) or Enhanced Nutrient Removal (ENR) systems are often required to monitor phosphate levels to meet discharge permit requirements.
In environmental monitoring, phosphate testing helps assess the health of lakes, rivers, and other aquatic ecosystems. Elevated phosphate concentrations can contribute to algae blooms and eutrophication, making routine monitoring valuable for identifying pollution sources such as fertilizer runoff.
In industrial water treatment, phosphate is commonly used as a corrosion inhibitor and conditioning agent n boiler and cooling water systems. Regular testing helps ensure effective treatment while preventing unnecessary chemical consumption.
Phosphate Test Methods
Stannous Chloride Method

In the Stannous Chloride Method, phosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate and is subsequently reduced by stannous chloride to form a blue-colored complex. The intensity of the color is proportional to the phosphate concentration. Results are reported as ppm (mg/L) PO4.
Vanadomolybdophosphoric Acid Method

In the Vanadomolybdophosphoric Acid Method, phosphate reacts with ammonium molybdate under acidic conditions in the presence of vanadium to form a yellow-colored complex. The intensity of the color corresponds to the phosphate concentration. Results are reported as ppm (mg/L) PO4.
Visual or Instrumental Kits
CHEMetrics offers two convenient ampoule-based testing systems for ozone analysis: CHEMets® Visual Kits and Vacu-Vials® Instrumental Kits. Both systems use CHEMetrics self-filling ampoule technology, which automatically draws the correct sample volume into the ampoule for fast, convenient testing.
CHEMets Visual Kits provide a simple visual method that requires no instrumentation. After the ampoule is filled with the sample, the developed color is compared to the supplied standards to determine ozone concentration. These kits are ideal for routine field testing, quick screening applications, users who do not require electronic data collection, and facilities looking for a cost-effective testing solution.
Vacu-Vials Instrumental Kits use a photometer or spectrophotometer (sold separately) to measure color intensity and calculate ozone concentration. This approach provides greater precision and eliminates the subjectivity associated with visual color matching. Vacu-Vials are ideal for process monitoring and control, laboratory testing, regulatory or compliance applications, users who require higher accuracy and repeatability, and electronic documentation and reporting.
