Hemacytometers with Glass Cover for Cell Counting
ASBC Method for microscopic yeast cell counting
An H-shaped moat form two counting areas, or plateaus. A “V” slash reduces the possibility of overflow.
- Cell Depth: 0.100mm +/- 2% (1/10mm)
- Volume: 0.1 Microliter
- Ruling Pattern: Improved Neubauer, 1/400 Square mm
Rulings cover 9 square millimeters. Boundary lines of the Neubauer ruling are the center lines of the groups of three. The central square millimeter is ruled into 25 groups of 16 small squares, each group separated by triple lines, the middle one of which is the boundary. The ruled surface is 0.10mm below the cover glass, so that the volume over each of the 16 small squares is .00025 cubic mm.
Cover slips for Hemacytometer (3048-13) to cover specimens in counting chambers are available. The cover glass is placed on the outer supports and due to their flatness, adheres very well. Thus, it forms an exact capillary gap defining the volume of the cell suspension over the counting grid. Made of high-quality optical glass. Ground and polished edges.
Weber Scientific hemacytometers deliver precise cell counting for blood analysis, microbiology research, and quality control in food and beverage testing. The H-shaped moat design with the V-slash boundary prevents overflow and ensures accurate volume measurement. Available in two configurations: Standard Hemocytometer with Dark Lines for traditional phase-contrast microscopy, or Neubauer Chamber with Bright Lines for superior contrast and image clarity. Both include 2 high-quality cover glasses. Sign in to your account or contact your sales rep for organizational pricing.
Frequently asked questions
What is the cell depth in a hemacytometer?
0.100 mm +/- 2% (1/10 mm), defining a volume of 0.1 microliter per counting area.
What's the difference between Bright Line and Standard (Dark Line) versions?
Bright Line uses a brighter, easier-to-see ruling pattern under the microscope. Standard uses darker lines. Both measure the same volume and follow Improved Neubauer patterns.
Can I replace the cover glasses?
Yes. Cover slips for hemacytometers are sold separately (20 x 26 mm, 0.4 mm thick, packs of 6).
What ruling pattern is used?
Both use the Improved Neubauer pattern. The central square millimeter has 25 groups of 16 small squares, with each small square measuring 1/400 square mm.
Is the glass optically certified?
Yes. Made of high-quality optical glass with ground and polished edges for flatness and clarity.
