Buffer, 7.2pH Stock Dilution

Standard Methods for the Examination of Dairy Products specifies the use of specially prepared stock phosphate buffer to prepare the dilution water blanks needed to perform the Standard Plate Count method for bacteria. The procedure to make phosphate buffer stock solution is tedious and time consuming for laboratory personnel: “Dissolve 34 g of potassium dihydrogen phosphate in 500 mL of MS water, adjust to pH 7.2 with 1 N NaOH solution, and make up to 1 L with MS water. If desired, place in small vials. Sterilize at 121O C. for 15 min. After sterilization, tightly seal the vials and store at 0O to 4.4O C.”

Now this work has been done for you...simply add 1.25 mL of our certified stock buffer to one liter of MS water.
