Cycloheximide, Crystalline
Cyclohexamide (CHX, Actidione, Naramycin) is widely used for selection of yeast and fungii. Inhibition of yeast is conducted through the translation inhibition in eukaryotes resulting in arrested cell growth and death. Cyclohexamide inhibits protein biosynthesis in eukaryotic cells by binding with the 80S ribosome.
Appications Cycloheximide is commonly used in brewery environments to prevent the growth of brewers yeast in culture media. Additions of cycloheximide to brewing culture media can increase media selectivity and reduce occurrence of unwanted and errant yeast and mold growth.

In general, HAZMAT fees apply whenever shipped by either UPS or FedEx, currently $44.00 per shipping carton for ground shipment. Air shipments require a $130.00 fee.
